Current FIFA World Ranking: 12
Key Players: Cristian Chivu-DEF, Adrian Mutu-FWD, Ciprian Marica-FWD
Group Stage Schedule: 6/9 vs France, 6/13 vs Italy, 6/17 vs Netherlands
Macho’s Take: Romania would probably be a lock to at least get out of any other group but find themselves with a trio of world soccer powers in Group C. They can use the confidence they gained after winning their qualifying group over Netherlands, but will need more than that to make a surprise trip to the quarterfinals. Chivu and Mutu will need to play extremely well and lead a mostly inexperienced group if they want to have a chance. Overall, they lack the firepower to compete against the other teams in this group and it will truly be the story of the tournament if they can help send two of these teams home early.
