Nets, Nuggets Blockbuster in the Works? May 19, 2008

According to several league sources the New Jersey Nets and Denver Nuggets have been discussing a mega blockbuster deal that would send Carmelo Anthony and Marcus Camby to the Nets.  In the proposed deal, the Nuggets would get Richard Jefferson, Marcus Williams, Keith Van Horn’s expiring contract, and the Nets lottery pick.  If Rod Thorn is able to make this move, give the man Executive of the Year minutes later.  There will probably be other small pieces involved to match up salaries, but this would be a home run for the Nets.  Pairing Devin Harris and Vince Carter with Carmelo and Camby would make the Nets contenders right away.   The Nets lottery pick will be determined on Tuesday night in Secaucus.  They have the tenth best chance to get the number 1 pick in the draft. (1.1%)

After Tuesday’s NBA lottery, expect to see our first Mock Draft sometime later on in the week.

I would love that trade. Rod Thorn has been a great executive, and with Kiki Vandeweigh as GM now, they will do whatever it takes to make the Nets a contender again. Only way I will disagree with this trade is if they get a top 2 selection and still trade it away. For me, I would probably keep the selection and hopefully get Beasley. Also, imagine this team if the trade goes through and the Nets sign LeBron in 2010 as many experts believe will happen. Wow.

Now as a Nets fan I am a huge fan of RJ but this is the type of deal that you do not pass up. Melo, Harris, & Carter on the same team would just be sick not to mention Camby makes it that much sweeter. And dare I say the chance of LeBron in a year or 2 would make this team…..I don’t even wanna say it….

Sounds good to me. I would definitely approve unless we get a top 2 selection. 2010 lebron will be signed with carter being let lose. That would be too much money and too little ball for all three of them. Thats asking for trouble. But I’m loving the potential melo-bron tandem. Sweet.
